All components run on a public cloud infrastructure. Calculations are performed on virtual instances, and data storage is provided by Snowflake storage service.
Snowflake’s cloud data warehouse is not based on an existing database or a software platform like Hadoop, but on a new SQL database engine based on an architecture specially designed for the cloud.
